Samir is an Unreasonable Fellow. Samir was part of Project Literacy Lab 2016.
Samir Ibrahim is the CEO and Co-Founder of SunCulture, headquartered in Kenya. SunCulture makes smallholder farming households more productive in an affordable and sustainable way by offering affordable solar-powered water pumps and customized irrigation systems, bundled with ongoing support and financing. SunCulture was the first company to commercialize solar-powered irrigation in Africa and is the only in Africa that provides a turnkey solar irrigation solution to farmers. SunCulture won the FT/IFC Transformational Business Award in both Excellence in Transformational Business and in the Food, Water, and Land Category in 2018. SunCulture has also recently been recognized as a Bloomberg New Energy Pioneer, selected by Fast Company as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies in 2021, and named in the London Stock Exchange’s inaugural ‘Companies to Inspire Africa’ report.
 
Prior to SunCulture, Samir studied finance and international business at NYU’s Undergraduate Stern School of Business and joined PwC's Financial Services, Structured Products, and Real Estate Group. Samir is also recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30, Top Conscious Business Leader by Conscious Company Media, and a World Energy Council Future Energy Leader alumni.
